Production of Biogas from Food Waste Using the Anaerobic Digestion Process with Biofilm-Based Pretreatment

The production of biogas from food waste is a good approach to the minimization and increase in renewable energy. However, use as feedstock for currently poses difficulty due an ineffective hydrolysis process, which pretreatment procedure initial step conversion process. This restriction results polymers’ solubilization breakdown. has impact on volume produced during methanogenesis stage. It essential biodegradation organic compounds (OC) process generation. study focuses enhancement by anaerobic digestion (AD) (FW). FW was hydrolyzed immobilized biofilm digested anaerobically semi-continuous digester. Four different digesters including control were prepared. digester composed no had while other three biofilm-hydrolyzed with inoculum concentrations 10%, 30%, 50%. showed that 50% highest yield about 2000 mL/500 mL. 1523 mL, 753 502 mL respectively. Thus, analysis total volatile solid (TVS) reduction have increased 43.4% 30% 60% inoculum, only 29% control. Total chemical demand (TCOD) removal 29%, 33%, 43%, 56% control, 50%, respectively inoculum-to-feed ratio. From these results, ratio shown degradation based TVS TCOD reduction.
